Roddy Doyle to address first meeting of Dublin Citizens’ Assembly this weekend

The Citizens’ Assembly on a Directly Elected Mayor for Dublin will hold its first in-person meeting this Saturday and Sunday 30 April-01 May, at The Grand Hotel in Malahide.

The Dublin Assembly will meet under the chairmanship of Jim Gavin and will include the 67 randomly selected citizens of Dublin City and County and the 12 elected councillors that were nominated to participate.

The Assembly will also be addressed by author, Roddy Doyle and his interpretation of what Dublin is.

The Assembly will also hear from the Chief Executives of the four Dublin Local Authorities – Dublin City Council, Dun-Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, Fingal County Council, and South Dublin County Council.

Academics Dr Ruth McManus and Professor Deiric Ó Broin from Dublin City University, Dr Bríd Quinn from University of Limerick, and Dr Aodh Quinlivan from University College Cork, will also address the Assembly on Dublin’s history, its current governance structures, key local government services, and finance.
