This lecture is aimed at both complete beginners as well as those already using the key Irish resources which are available online.

Joan Sharkey has been an active member of the Raheny Heritage Society since it was founded in January 1987 by the late Ray Wickham and a former Hon. Secretary of the Society.

She is the author of St. Anne’s The Story of a Guinness Estate (The Woodfield Press in association with Dublin City Council) (2002).

Joan started working part-time as a professional genealogist in 1999 and became a member of Accredited Genealogists Ireland (AGI) in 2003, and is its current President.
Raheny Heritage Society encourages interest and research into both local and family history.

The Society hosts several public talks each year, as well as monthly meetings for members on both local and family history.

It has produced a number of publications of local interest, which are available for purchase.
