The Department of Education has announced that construction has been approved on the new Malahide-Portmarnock Educate Together Secondary School.

The school will have the capacity for 1,000 students and will contain four SEN rooms.

Fingal Fianna Fail Senator Lorraine Clifford Lee welcomed the news.

“I would like to congratulate Principal Aoife Kelly-Gibson and the Board of Management for all their work including chairperson David Graham,” said Senator Clifford Lee.

“It is a wonderful school and it’s fantastic that Minister Norma Foley has given this approval for the final step in the journey towards a permanent school building.”

In August 2018, the school opened its doors at temporary accommodation in Swords Enterprise Park.

It is expected that the new school building will be completed for the 2023/24 academic year.
