Katie packs a healthy punch in Castleknock

St Vincent’s pupils welcome Katie to the school.

OLYMPIC champ Katie Taylor took the gloves off for a friendly visit to St Vincent’s Castleknock College recently where she talked to students and staff about the importance of healthy living.

Gold medallist Katie is ambassador for Aramark Health and Wellness and she gave students a few lessons in healthty living during an informative question and answers session at the college.
Ireland’s most popular boxer was a real hit with the young fans and she took time out to meet them one-on-one. She also signed a Castleknock College rugby jersey for auction after the event.

Katie has been working with Aramark for the past two years as part of the company’s Right Track programme. Frank Gleeson, MD at Aramark Food Services, Aramark Ireland, explained what it involved.

“As St Vincent’s Castleknock College’s food service provider, we have been a long term partner with the college and we work closely with them in driving a healthy eating and wellness approach among their students,

? he said.

“We are passionate about highlighting the importance of food in relation to health and wellness and as we have Katie Taylor as our Right Track ambassador we felt this was the perfect opportunity to introduce Katie to the Castleknock College students.

School principal, Oliver Murphy, said the college has a longstanding commitment to creating a healthy environment in which to study and participate fully in school activities.

Castleknock College is one of the country’s leading second level schools. The college was ranked joint best school in Ireland for 2012 and 2013 for sending students to university, as reported by the Irish Independent.

The 2014 Sunday Times Schools Guide rated the College as the top school in North Dublin and 19th in the top 400 schools in the country.
