Fianna Fáil representatives across Dublin have welcomed this morning’s announcement from Jim O’Callaghan that 141 probationer Gardaí are to be deployed across the capital.
Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Justice and TD for Dublin Bay North, Deputy Tom Brabazon, whose constituency is to benefit from an additional 22 Gardaí, Fianna Fáil TD for Dublin Mid-West, Deputy Shane Moynihan, whose constituency will receive an additional 33 Gardaí, and Fianna Fáil candidate for Dublin Central, John Stephenson, whose area is to benefit from an additional 13 Gardaí, said the allocation will strengthen policing across their communities.
Deputy Brabazon said:
“This is a real boost for Dublin Bay North, with 22 additional Gardaí being assigned locally. People want to see Gardaí on the ground in their communities, and that visibility makes a difference day to day.”
He added:
“As Justice Spokesperson, I know how important high visibility policing is. It reassures people, deters crime, and helps build stronger, safer communities. We are committed to making sure our Gardaí have the support they need to protect our communities.”
Deputy Moynihan said:
“This allocation is significant for Dublin Mid-West and will strengthen An Garda Siochána’s capacity to deliver high-visibility and responsive policing in areas like Lucan and Clondalkin villages. It will also support initiatives like Operation Irene, with regular patrols in our parks and public spaces over the summer months, helping to ensure our communities remain safe and well-served.”
Dublin Central Fianna Fáil By-Election Candidate, Cllr. John Stephens said:
“Communities across Dublin Central have been calling for more Garda visibility, and this has been a key focus of my campaign. The assignment of 13 Gardaí to the area is a welcome step in responding to those concerns.”
He added:
“People want to see Gardaí on the streets, in our neighbourhoods, and engaged with the community. That’s what I’ve been hearing on the doors, and that’s what I will continue to push for. ”
“I want to thank my colleague Minister Jim O’Callaghan for his work on this allocation, and I look forward to working with him into the future to continue strengthening community safety across Dublin Central.”
All three said continued investment in An Garda Síochána is essential to supporting safer communities and meeting the needs of a growing city and county.
