Families of the victims of the Stardust Disaster say the Coroner has invited them to the fifth preliminary hearing of the inquest tomorrow.

They also say with short notice some families have accepted the invitation and will be in attendance tomorrow.

48 young people lost their lives and more than 200 were injured in the fire in the Stardust nightclub, Artane, on Valentines Day 1981.

For many years the families been calling for fresh inquiries into the fire

In September 2019, the Attorney General ordered that new inquests be conducted into the deaths of the 48 victims.

He said there had been “an insufficiency of inquiry as to how the deaths occurred”.
