Hollywood beckons for Ciara Rose

Stunning Ciara Rose Burke enjoys the red carpet treatment with Brazilians Thairon Mendes and Humberto Rosa of Redline Films. Invoked is expected to be shown in Irish cinemas next year.

A LOCAL actress who landed a horror movie starring role after responding to an ad on Gumtree got a real life scare when an ambulance was called to a Hollywood movie theatre during its debut run.

Ciara Rose Burke from Corduff was getting her first taste of Tinseltown at the LA Brazilian Film Festival for the premiere of her movie

‘Invoked’ when she learned that two members of the audience had taken panic attacks.

“It actually scared the life out of somebody and we had to call an ambulance,

? she said.

“I felt so bad, but I was talking to the guy after and he was OK. He said it had never happened to him before.

Ciara was in Hollywood for the Los Angeles Brazilian Film Festival with Brazilians Thairon Mendes and Humberto Rosa of Redline Films who produced the movie.
Ciara met the Latinos by chance after they responded to a small ad she posted on Gumtree. Fast forward a year later and they’re all on their way to Hollywood for the biggest Brazilian film festival outside the South American country.

“It was a real adventure,

? Ciara told Northside People.

“It was surreal to see the posters of my move up there at a Hollywood cinema, and then to sit there and watch it was just mad.

Ciara, who has acted on Fair City and worked as a trainee assistant director on Brendan O’Carroll’s Mrs Brown’s Boys D’Movie, is hoping her Hollywood experience will kick-start her career.

Her networking in LA led to some new opportunities, including an acting role in a TV series, and she’s planning on returning – if she can manage to get the right paperwork.

“I got a few offers over there but I don’t have an artist’s visa for LA yet,

? she said.

“Hopefully I’ll be able to get one soon and take one of the offers. Basically, you have to prove that you’re an extraordinary talent to get one. That’ll be another adventure!

“I’d love to do it, especially now that I’ve got a taste for it. There’s no going back now.

Irish movie fans will have to wait until next year to see

‘Invoked’. Redline Films has decided to take the film on the festival circuit and have applied to get it shown at the Jameson Dublin Film Festival next March.

Ciara, who now lives in Clonsilla, says they’ve high hopes for the movie, especially after the positive reception it got in Hollywood.

“I was delighted because there’s a bit of Irish humour in the movie and obviously there was lots of Brazilians there but they absolutely got it.

“We were a bit anxious that they wouldn’t, but there was a great reaction from the press and there was a few distributors interested.

“However, we’ve high hopes for this and we’ve decided to keep going with the festivals.
