Irish Rugby player Cian Prendergast launches Denim Day for Dementia for The Alzheimer Society of Ireland

Professional rugby player Cian Prendergast is calling on people to get involved with The Alzheimer Society of Ireland (The ASI)’s 8th annual Denim Day for Dementia fundraising campaign taking place on Friday, 27th February to raise vital funds for dementia supports and services.  

Cian, who plays for Connacht Rugby and the Irish national team, experienced his grandmother living with dementia before her passing.

He said: “I’m really proud to support Denim Day for Dementia with The Alzheimer Society of Ireland.

“Dementia touches so many families across Ireland, and wearing denim on the day is a simple but powerful way to show support and help fund vital services.

“I’d encourage everyone to get involved and be part of this brilliant event.”

To continue delivering essential services nationwide, The ASI must raise?€4.2 million in 2026.

These vital funds help sustain services including the?National Helpline, Family Carer Training, Day Care, Social Clubs and Alzheimer’s Cafés.

“Whether you’re at school, in the workplace, at a crèche, with your sports club, or at home, getting involved with Denim Day is a powerful way to support people affected by dementia and their families.

“The funds raised are essential to maintain the support and services we provide, so we are encouraging everyone to make a real difference by taking part in this year’s Denim Day for Dementia on the 27th February.”
