Andrews condemns assault on tourist in Temple Bar
Dublin People 22 Aug 2025
Sinn Féin Senator Chris Andrews has condemned the brutal assault of an English tourist in Temple Bar yesterday morning.
Senator Andrews said:
“This incident was completely unacceptable and shocking. My thoughts are with this man and his family, and I wish him a speedy recovery.
“This cruel crime is nothing new to the people living in the inner city, who are forced to live with violent incidents and anti-social behaviour on a daily basis.
“Inner city Dublin desperately needs greater investment in Garda resources and community services to ensure that locals and tourists alike can feel safe in our capital city.
“We need an increased Garda presence on our streets, along with introducing retentions measures to reduce resignations and build Garda numbers.
“As a priority, we must ensure that the inner city receives the regeneration that it needs, enabling safer streets and improving access to youth services, community facilities and mental health resources.”
