Gardaí seize €1.36m of tobacco and cigarettes during Tallaght searches

Gardaí in Tallaght seized cigarettes and tobacco worth an estimated €1.36 million during searches of premises yesterday morning.

In a statement, a Garda spokesperson said that “Gardaí carried out a number of searches in the Tallaght area of Dublin and seized an estimated €1.36m in cigarettes and tobacco.

“The operation comprised of personnel attached to the Tallaght Drug Divisional Unit, uniform units and Garda Dog Unit.

“Following the searches, the seized items were later handed over to staff from Revenue’s Custom Services.

“The cigarettes seized represent a potential loss to Revenue in excess of €1m.”

No arrests have been made at this time and the spokesperson says that investigations are ongoing.
