Revenue seize cocaine worth €1.26 million at Dublin Port

Revenue officers yesterday seized 18kgs of cocaine with an estimated value of €1.26 million at Dublin Port.

The illegal drugs were discovered, with the assistance of detector dog James, concealed in a vehicle that was stopped and searched.

The seizure was made as a result of a joint operation conducted by Revenue’s Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and with the assistance of the Garda Stolen Motor Vehicle Investigation Unit.

A man in his 50s and a woman in her 40s were arrested by An Garda Síochána and detained under Section 2 of The Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Store Street Garda Station.

Investigations are ongoing.

This operation was part of Revenue’s ongoing joint investigations targeting transnational organised crime and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs.
