Enhancement works at Killiney Beach recommenced today after the project was paused due to level five restrictions.

As part of phase one, the walkway from the beach carpark to the DART carpark will be resurfaced and widened with drainage and street furniture also set to be installed.

“The footpath and grass area will be closed to pedestrians from the beach carpark to the DART station carpark,” says Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Councill.

“There will be restricted access at the bridge at DART station carpark as it is needed for a site machinery access route.

“Working hours will be from 9am to 6pm.

“Contractors will ideally be looking to commence Phase 3 when these works are complete, with Phase 2 works – Strathmore Road to beach carpark – not expected to commence until minimum early 2022,” it said.

Overall, there are eight phases to the regeneration works which includes the redevelopment of the DART carpark, the improvement of walkways leading to the beach and the installation of more street lighting.
