A scrambler with a driver and two pillion passengers crashed into a delivery worker on Ballyfermot’s Decies Road leaving four people injured in hospital.

The incident, which occured on Friday evening, is still being investigated by an Garda Siochana.

“Gardai attended the scene of a road traffic collision on Decies Road, Ballyfermot,” a spokesperson told Southside People.

“The collision occurred at approximately 6.30pm, Friday 25th September 2020.

“A scrambler bike collided with a car.

“Four persons, details currently unknown, were taken to hospital with what are described as non-serious injuries.

“Investigations are ongoing.”

Sinn Féin Dublin City Councillor Daithí Doolan, chair of the Joint Policing Committee, said the local community have had enough.

“This community feels it is being held to ransom by scramblers,” he said.

“The situation is out of control.

“It must be tackled head on.

“This is the second accident in Ballyfermot involving a scrambler in just over a week.

“We need Gardaí to be given adequate powers to arrest and charge those speeding on scramblers on roads and public areas.

“I fear it is only a matter of time before someone is killed by one of these scramblers.

“Sinn Féin will be introducing a Dáil Bill within two weeks to tackled the scourge of scramblers.

“I sincerely hope that it recieves cross party support and that action follows so that we may avoid further injuries or worse.”
