Google says it has abandoned plans to rent office space in the Docklands for 2,000 employees.

In October last year Google began talks to rent the ‘Sorting Office’ near the south quays on the site of the old An Post sorting office at Cardiff Lane.

In a statement, the tech giant said:

“After much deliberation, Google has decided not to proceed with leasing the Sorting Office.

“We are grateful to Mapletree for all their work with us, and wish them well in the successful letting of this excellent office building.

“We continue to invest in our Irish operations.”
