THE cathaoirleach of Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council, Cllr Shay Brennan, and Chief Executive Philomena Poole were on hand to mark the launch of the Druid’s Glen Road Junction recently.

Strategically located to link Cherrywood to the N11 near Cabinteely, when fully completed the road is designed to play a key role in further opening up lands at Cherrywood.

The new town, when fully built, will provide for 25,000 potential new residents in over 8,700 homes with a town centre, six schools, significant parklands and an open space serviced by a network of pedestrian and cycling routes, high intensity employment, high quality transportation links and public realm and municipal facilities.

Speaking at the launch, the cathaoirleach said: “I am delighted to be here at the Druid’s Glen Road Junction, which is the gateway to the new town in our county.

“Today marks a very important milestone in the development of our county and in securing the future of Cherrywood.”

The junction was part-funded under the Local Infrastructure Housing Activation Fund (LIHAF scheme) as part of the Rebuilding Ireland programme and works were carried out on behalf of Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council by Clonmel Enterprises.
