New Microsoft jobs are a vote of confidence

THE creation of a further 200 jobs at Microsoft’s Southside-based campus has been hailed as a great vote of confidence in the country.

The tech giant is increasing its presence in Ireland with the new jobs adding to the company’s workforce at its offices at One Microsoft Place in Sandyford.

Half of the new jobs are on the innovative engineering team which is working to support the development of new and emerging technology solutions, such as AI, for customers across the globe.

Once this new wave of recruitment is complete, it will bring the total numbers employed by the company in Ireland to 2,200. The company revealed that the new recruits will be charged with accelerating the development and adoption of AI technologies and the creation of personalised customer experiences. 

In addition to the 100 engineering roles, the company is also recruiting 50 people to support the continued growth of its 700-strong EMEA Digital Sales organisation with vacancies for Technology Solutions Specialists, Solutions Sales Specialists and Account Executives who will join the growing team of talented digital sellers. An additional 50 roles are available across a range of areas in the company including the Data Centre, the sales subsidiary and positions on the company’s graduate and intern programme. 

Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht Josepha Madigan, said: “Ireland has a strong pool of highly skilled workers, a first-class education system, a competitive and transparent taxation regime and a pro-enterprise environment.”

Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Shane Ross, added: “The creation of 200 jobs at the Microsoft campus in Sandyford is hugely welcome. Such an investment shows that companies like Microsoft have great confidence in the Irish ability to deliver highly skilled workers.”
