Business community celebrates 10th annual EnviroCom Awards

MORE than 130 members of the business community of Dun Laoghaire Rathdown attended the 10th anniversary of the EnviroCom Awards at the Royal Marine Hotel in Dun Laoghaire recently.

Hosted by Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Chamber in association with Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council, this prestigious ceremony welcomed dignitaries including Minister for Jobs, Enterprise & Innovation, Mary Mitchell O’ Connor, cathaoirleach Cllr Cormac Devlin and DLR Chamber President Pat Neill.
There were 11 winners overall with two entrants picking up the Environmental Innovation award, St John of Gods of Hospital Stillorgan and Viva Green, who manufacture the world’s first chemical-free moss control product.
Opening the awards Minister Mitchell O’ Connor said: “It’s great to be back again this year to celebrate your successes. These awards recognise the environmental challenges we face in Ireland, the EU and globally. I want to thank and congratulate all the companies who took part in these awards. I wish you continued success in achieving even better environmental performance in the years to come.”
DLR Chamber President Pat Neill added: “We would like to thank all of our entrants, finalists past winners and sponsors, who without their support this significant event could not happen.
“The original idea of creating the EnviroCom awards was about encouraging the business community of Dun Laoghaire Rathdown to become more sustainable by adopting better environmental practices.
“It is a philosophy that the Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Chamber and county council have worked towards throughout the county. over the past decade.”
