About Home-Start, Blanchardstown

Home-Start provide family support to parents of young children both in their own homes and in their respite creche at Home-Start Blanchardstown, Blakestown, Dublin 15. Home-Start Blanchardstown was set up by Anna Lynch in 1988 and the first volunteers visited parents in their own Homes in 1989.

This year they are celebrating 30 years of supporting families in the whole of Dublin 15 area.

At Home Start we are passionate about the services we provide to the many families in need. Our charity is designed to breakdown social barriers and to engage young parents and children through our Volunteer Home-Visits, Parenting Plus Programme and Respite Creche.

The essence of Home-Start is best described through the testimonials of its service users. In their own words, they convey the true mission of Home-Start like no other, here is what some of our families had this to say.

“As you know bringing home 3 healthy babies (triplets) was a momentous and joyful occasion, however a serious struggle for any two parents. Our babies were so small and needed around the clock feeding, not to mention the 25+ bottles & nappies a day that needed doing also. From day one our family made a connection with our Home-Start Volunteer; she was so hands on and gentle with our babies and toddler and we looked forward to her weekly visits, her chats and helping hand. We cannot thank Home-Start enough for stepping up and providing the much-needed support during this vulnerable and challenging time in our lives as parents. Your support has been invaluable.”

“I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the support & friendship you have shown me the last two years. I cannot tell you what it meant to me. Home-Start provided so much support & stability for myself and my son. The service you provide is truly amazing and I wouldn’t be where I am if it weren’t for you.”

“Words cannot express the heartfelt gratitude for the care and teachings you have given my child over the past few years. She has come on great because of you. I have never come across a place like Home-Start and I never will. You are unique.”
