Stoneybatter Pride Of Place has announced that the Stoneybatter Festival returns from Friday, June 16 to Sunday, June 18 as local residents celebrate life in Dublin’s “most vibrant urban village”.

Over 100 events will take place across the three-day festival including music, entertainment, food and drink, sustainability and environment, culture and heritage, and family fun.

“The festival launch at the Prussia St Community Centre, MC’ed by our favourite consumer champion and local resident Conor Pope followed by frivolity and festive antics (music, poetry, art and film) up and down Manor Street,” organisers say.

“A Bike Bop will take place from 7pm and we’re encouraging everyone with a bicycle to come along and enjoy the cycle and some cracking tunes.

“Saturday 18th will see a host of lively events taking place.

“Festival-goers can experience history trails and guided tours of the area.

“If that’s not your thing, visit the local Scouts in their teepee at Billy Edwards’ Park, enjoy an afternoon of music in Thor Place or a creative theatre workshop with international artists, Fusion Murga in the Scout Den. Follow this with an evening of music from the Mellow Tonics in TU Dublin.

“In a completely new event, we’re expecting poems and perms in local hairdressers, Steel Magnolias, as they host a Spoken Word event.

“If that doesn’t make the cut, why not bring your pet along to Little Deer Comics where cartoonist Aaron Losty will draw your dog, paint a parrot or sketch a snake at the Pet Portrait workshop?

“As in previous years, food, drink and entertainment features strongly across the festival programme and a wide range of local businesses will host a series of events.”

Hynes’s Bar will become Ionad na Gaeilge on Saturday afternoon as they host a family fun afternoon with a treasure hunt, quiz and appearance by an Irish speaking clown.

A Pop Up Gaeltacht will follow in the afternoon with traditional music provided by our friends in Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann.

Mahon’s Butchers will be roasting a pig on a spit on Sunday while L Mulligan Grocer will host their long table event on Sunday.

Kerala Kitchen have developed a special Festival menu which will be available across the weekend

On Sunday, Stoneybatter and Manor Street will be closed to traffic from 12 noon to 6pm to facilitate stalls, music, and fun day activities with a focus on families.

The festival concludes on Sunday night with a concert of music, song and dance for the Senior Citizens of the Stoneybatter area and after-parties in the local pubs.
