Dublin North West TD Paul McAuliffe has called for a mobile and walk in testing centre in Ballymun today at the Special Committee on Covid-19.

Fianna Fail Deputy McAuliffe made his plea amid the worrying rise in Covid cases in the local community.

“We learned last week that the Ballymun-Finglas local electoral area has the highest rate of Covid transmission in the city with 265.4 cases per 100000 in the last two weeks,” he said.

“According to the HSPC data at least 25% of cases nationally are community transmission, I believe testing should be made as easy as possible for people to pick up potential positive and asymptomatic cases.

“I have had representations from constituents regarding delays in GP appointments, some people have been asked to go to the National Show centre in Swords for testing, despite not having no car.

“We cannot have people potentially with Covid-19 using public transport,” concluded the Deputy.
