Grangegorman link road opened

A NEW temporary link road between Grangegorman and Constitution Hill has been officially opened by Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe.

The St Brendan's Way East link road is for pedestrians and cyclists and it now takes around five minutes to walk from the gate at Grangegorman Road to the Constitution Hill junction. It previously took around 20 minutes.

The GDA has opened the St Brendan's Way East on a restricted basis to see how it operates and if any issues arise. The opening times are from 7am-4pm Monday to Friday and 7am to 2pm on Saturday.

“It is our intention and goal to expand the opening hours as soon as we can and we will hopefully be able to provide a timetable for this soon,” a spokesperson said.

The new link road is temporary until the new plaza at Broadstone is completed by Transport Infrastructure Ireland next year.

Once complete the plaza will effectively become the main entrance to Grangegorman from the city. A sign informing people that they are entering Grangegorman is already in place on the bridge that people will walk under to get to the quarter.

The temporary St Brendan's Way East link road makes it now possible to walk from the Grangegorman campus to Bolton Street in nine minutes.

The Grangegorman Development Agency has thanked the HSE, DIT, Dublin City Council, Dublin Bus, Bus Éireann, CIE, the National Transport Authority and Transport infrastructure Ireland for helping with the link road.
