A LEADING global pharmaceutical company has celebrated its 150th anniversary by burying a time capsule at a ceremony at its Irish offices in College Business and Technology Park, Blanchardstown.

The time capsule contains contributions from Mallinckrodt’s team in Ireland and staff also organised a charity collection for Enable Ireland and De Paul during the celebrations.

Earlier this year Mallinckrodt opened a new global medical device engineering centre at its Dublin 15 campus, creating 45 highly skilled jobs in the process.

And last month Managing Director, Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals, Ireland, Dr David Keenan, led the company’s 150th anniversary celebrations.

“We’ve had a significant manufacturing and business presence in Fingal, for almost a quarter of a century, developing the next generation of products for a number of rare conditions that make a significant difference to the lives of patients,” he said.

“The time capsule burial is both a commemoration of Mallinckrodt’s past and a symbol of our future in Ireland. The integration of our business in the community in which we work, and many of us live, has always been a key priority for Mallinckrodt.

“As a team, we admire the service and support provided by Enable Ireland and De Paul. These organisations are helping to improve the lives of people presented with serious challenges in our local community.”

Dr Keenan added that with construction of corporate offices, a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility and a new Global Device Engineering centre all completed in the last two years, Mallinckrodt was entering a “new and exciting era” for te company in Blanchardstown.

“While our business strategy has evolved throughout the decades, our promise to produce the highest quality products, with the utmost integrity and an unmatched level of customer service has never changed,” he continued.

“Commitment to excellence and responsibility was the foundation on which Mallinckrodt was built. These core principles have driven our company forward for the past 150 years and will guide us into the future.”
