Dalymount fire drama
Dublin People 11 Nov 2017
THERE was drama at the home of Irish football last week, but it had nothing to do with the beautiful game.
Bohemian FC club officials received a late night alert that their ground at Dalymount Park was on fire and firefighters from Phibsboro and Finglas had been dispatched.
Officials were greeted with an eerie glow in the sky as they rushed up the lane alongside the ground to see the extent of the damage.
Dalymount Park is due to be rebuilt into a modern stadium, but with work not due to start for a couple of years the last thing the cash-strapped club needed was a forced eviction.
Thankfully, the blaze was confined to two portocabins at the Shed End at St Peter’s Road and was extinguished by firefighters using three pumps.
The portocabins were totally destroyed in the incident, but the fire had been contained and the rest of the stadium was undamaged.
The club is now on the lookout for two similar portocabins and would be grateful if anybody could help them out before the season starts in February.
