A NORTHSIDE performing arts school has been shortlisted in the best newcomer category for the Inner City Enterprise (ICE) awards 2017 taking place on May 11.
K-Star Academy employs six teachers and caters for 70 plus young students in Ongar Community Centre, Tyrrelstown Community Centre and Donabate girls primary school.
The academy was founded last year by Karen Tynan who followed her dream to London where she graduated from the prestigious London Studio Centre with a BA honours degree in Theatre/Dance.
From there, she began her career working as a professional singer, actor and dancer performing around the world including headline tours of America, releasing two albums and being featured in the hit US TV series Penny Dreadful.
She has also performed as a guest artist at many gigs including the Bob Dylan Tour at The Marque and American singer and record producer ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic at Vicar Street.
She’s now sharing her wealth of experience at the K-Star Academy centres, which caters for young talent from four years up to early teens. More details on K-Star can be found online at www.k-staracademy.com.
