Do not swim notice issued for Front Strand Balbriggan

Following sample results received today, the prior warning notice for Front Strand Balbriggan has been replaced with a Do Not Swim notice.

A resample is being arranged and an update will be provided in due course.

In a statement, Fingal County Council said:

“While the beach is still open to the public, beach users are asked to respect the ‘Do Not Swim’ notice as it has been put in place to ensure that the health of bathers is not compromised.

“Members of the public can check for water quality at any of the monitored bathing waters in Ireland in advance by accessing the EPA website at https://www.beaches.ie/ or by checking the notice board at the entrance to each beach.

“Resamples at Claremont Beach, Howth, Rush North Beach, and Portmarnock Beach have deemed the water quality as “Excellent”.

“As a result the prior warning notice for Rush North Beach and the Do Not Swim notice for Claremont Beach have been lifted.

“However, due to significant rainfall which is forecast for Thursday evening, a further prior warning notice will be erected at Portmarnock Beach later today as a precautionary measure.
