“Hugely encouraging” that local schools are receiving education therapy services, says O Muirí

Confirmation from Minister for Education Hildegarde Naughton that three local special schools will be included in the phased roll-out of the new Education Therapy Service (ETS) is hugely encouraging, Fine Gael TD Naoise Ó Muirí has said.
Belmayne Community Special School, Abacas Kilbarrack and the CRC will participate in the initial rollout, alongside 42 other schools nationwide.
“The ETS represents a major step forward in how we support children with additional needs in our education system.
“By embedding therapists directly within school communities, we are ensuring that children will be able to access timely, practical and joined-up support in the place where they learn every day.
“I understand from discussions with the Minister that the service will begin in special schools and will gradually extend to special classes and mainstream settings, ensuring that all children can access essential therapies in a timely and effective manner.
“This is clearly a step in the right direction to strengthening supports for children with special educational needs, and delivers on our Programme for Government commitment to introducing a dedicated National Therapy Service in education.
“It is essential that every child in Ireland is given the support they need to reach their full potential, and I look forward to seeing this vital service expanded in north Dublin throughout 2026 and beyond”, concluded Deputy Ó Muirí.
