Proposed phone mast for Stamullen

NORTHSIDE People were recently contacted by a local resident in relation to a proposed telecommunication structure for Stamullen.

Catherine Tormey, who lives in Tubertown, Stamullen, said she wanted to let her fellow residents know about the plans.

“I want to let the wider community know about a planning application to erect a 24 metre telecommunications structure in our area by Vantage Towers Limited,” Catherine told Northside People.

“The Fingal planning reference is F22A/0473 and info is also posted on Mast Watch Ireland’s Facebook group.

“The locals in the area are strongly opposed to this mast going up in our area for many reasons.

“The area where it’s proposed to go is a green belt area.

“We want to protect this area, its beauty, and nature.

“It’s a popular area to walk for many local people in the area.

“The structure given its height and scale would have a detrimental effect, it would be visually intrusive to the area.

“Because it would be approximately 300 m from a local forest it would have a significant impact on the wildlife in the area.

“On the opposite side in the field adjacent to it is a badger’s nest which is protected under the wild life act 2000.

“The owner of that field is totally opposed to it and is fully onboard with the appeal.

“We also have serious concerns about electromagnetic field radiation from the mast.

“I would appreciate if you could let the wider area know as all objections have to be in by this Tuesday, October 11.”
