An evening to share and learn about grief hosted by North Dublin Bereavement Network

North Dublin Bereavement Network will host its third annual bereavement information event on Thursday, March 10, at 7.30pm.

This free online event will provide information about grieving and the range of supports available to bereaved people in the North Dublin area.

People who have lost a partner, parent, child, sibling or friend through any circumstance – illness or sudden death, are invited to join.

In particular, this year’s event focuses on Coping with Anniversaries & Significant Events and will offer the opportunity to listen to experts and a panel discussion as well as to ask questions.

Niamh Finucane, network member and Coordinator of Social Work & Bereavement Service, St Francis Hospice will talk about the process of grief and the ways we can support each other.

She explains: “The network was established in 2016 by organisations involved in the provision of adult bereavement support in North Dublin.

“The network aims to improve the quality and provision of bereavement support to people in North Dublin through working collaboratively.

“Our event aims to give people information about living with and coping with their grief, remembering the person who died and finding ways to engage with their world again.”

Amanda Roberts, Bereavement Development with Irish Hospice Foundation said: “We are delighted to once again support this event in North Dublin.

“We see the importance of the work that is done and want to extend that support.

“Our new development grants help networks like these to engage with the public around bereavement, while bringing bereavement service providers together locally.

“We are honoured to have Niamh Fitzpatrick, psychologist and sister of Capt. Dara Fitzpatrick who died during an Irish Coast Guard Rescue operation in 2017 as our guest and host of the Q&A panel.”

Panel members from the North Dublin Bereavement Network include: Fiona Tuomey (HUGG), Niamh Finucane (St Francis Hospice), Tony Owens (Féileacáin), Aine Lavelle (Bethany Bereavement Support Service), Colleen Brown (Barnardos Children’s Bereavement Service) and our guest panel member Tom Kennedy (Bereaved Dads Breakfast Club).

This online event is supported by Irish Hospice Foundation and funded by the Dublin City COVID-19 Emergency Fund.   It is free to attend but booking is required.
