Today marks the launch of “Lusk Vision 2030: Lusk for Life,” a project championed by Lusk Community Council with the support of Fingal Leader Partnership.

Launched by Minister of State Joe O’Brien, with a video outlining the goals of the project, it aims to engage wide participation from all residents of Lusk.

This is an opportunity for all residents to have their say on their town.

Lusk is a historic town, which faces particular pressures as its population has expanded rapidly in recent years.

“Lusk Vision 2030” is a new type of town Action Plan, unique to Lusk, it will develop holistic, long-term strategies for the future development of the town to help ensure the town thrives for all its citizens.

This project will develop a community led vision for Lusk, co-created with community and voluntary groups, businesses and stakeholders.

“Lusk Vision 2030” is led by consultants AP+E Architects with Miriam Delaney and Tara Kennedy.

This is an architect-led collaborative team with a track record in devising, engaging and delivering innovative projects, with distinct expertise in relation to small towns, community engagement and spatial analysis.

They have designed a public participation programme open to all, in line with Covid 19 guidelines, and they will want to hear your views through a series of public participation workshops and surveys.

At a time when we are all acutely aware of the quality of our neighbourhoods, the amenities we have, and those we need, this Action Plan will point to the infrastructure and facilities that would improve the quality of life for the people of Lusk.

The strategies and design principles that will be presented in the final report will highlight various scenarios as the town develops, allowing for proactive planning of community facilities and infrastructure.

The Community Council wishes to encourage the people of Lusk to get involved and play an active role in creating the future vision for Lusk.

This will involve completing an on?line survey, taking part in a virtual workshops or getting in touch directly with the consultants to have your voice heard.

Links to the survey will be circulated through local social media channels, and invitations will be issued to community groups to take part in on-line workshops.

An open day of on-line meetings will be held in late February and will be advertised locally.

This will be the ?rst time that Lusk has had the opportunity to create a “community ?rst” voice and vision for your town.

Minister O’Brien said “Your opinion in important.

“If you want Lusk to be, as I do, a vibrant, dynamic and sustainable town, this is your opportunity to help create that future.”
