Dublin Fire Brigade to receive vaccine by March, easing tensions

Dublin Fire Brigade will not take industrial action after it was revealed all fire brigade members will be vaccinated by March.

The announcement comes after SIPTU held talks with HSE management after the vaccination programme for fire brigade members was temporary cancelled.

Dublin City Councillor for Sinn Fein, Daithí Doolan said: “Following SIPTU talks with management it was confirmed this afternoon that Dublin fire fighters will all receive the first Covid vaccination in February.

“Second vaccination will be completed by March.

“SIPTU are to receive the detailed timeframe by Monday 5pm.

“This guarantee was enough for the union to defer any undustrial action.”

Doolan says this incident was “a massive blunder by the Government who had passed over Dublin fire fighters and proceeded to vaccinate other non-frontline staff.

“Only the swift action of SIPTU ensured fire fighters received the vaccination they deserve,” he says.

“This is a victory for public health and common sense. Well done to Dublin Fire Brigade personal and all involved in bringing this to a successful conclusion.”
