Six people have been arrested at the Debenhams workers’ sit-in at Henry St.

The six include Henry St shop steward Jane Crowe who has been a key voice raising the workers’ demands throughout the course of the dispute.

The arrests took place at 8.15am after the occupation commenced at 7am.

The six arrested include Jane Crowe, two other Henry St exDebenhams workers and three supporters.

The sit ins have been organised to highlight the workers’ demands for four weeks redundancy per year of service.

They also have been organised to show opposition to the offer made to the workers last week by KPMG which approximates to one days pay per year of service above the statutory minimum.

A spokesperson from An Garda Siochana told Northside People:

“Gardaí attended incidents this morning at Henry Street in Dublin and Patrick Street in Cork.

Six persons have been arrested at Henry Street in Dublin for trespassing under the Public Order Act.

“An act of Criminal Damage is also being investigated.

“The six persons were detained at Store Street Garda Station and have been released pending further investigations.

Gardaí remain at the scene at Patrick Street in Cork.

“No further information is available at this time.”
