More bad news for Northside beaches

Dale Greenwood 26 Aug 2020

TEMPORARY Do not Swim Notices have been issued for Rush North, Skerries South and Front Strand, Balbriggan Beaches

The notices will remain in place for four days due to an an increase in bacteria levels in the results of the bathing water samples taken on August 25.

The likely cause is urban and agricultural run-off and an investigation has commenced, Fingal County Council have said.

A seawater re-sample will be taken tomorrow August 27 at these beaches, and the results will be available on August 29 when the Do not Swim notices will be reviewed.

The beaches remain open but beach users are asked to respect the ‘Do Not Swim’ notices as they have been put in place to ensure that the health of bathers is not compromised.

Members of the public can check for water quality at any of the monitored bathing waters in Ireland in advance by accessing the EPA website at www.beaches.ie or by checking the notice board at the entrance to each beach.
