A Dublin couple who flew out to South Africa last Saturday returned home to Dublin this morning after cutting short their holiday due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

As we reported on Saturday, the husband and wife flew out to Johannesburg, via London, and had sent us a photo of a virtually deserted Dublin Airport.

However, after just two days in South Africa, the couple – who are originally from Dublin – feared they would be unable to travel home to Ireland due to the ever-evolving situation regarding travel restrictions. The only flight back to Ireland was via Dubai but they felt they had no choice but to take this option to get home.

This morning, the relieved couple posted an aerial photo of Howth as their plane descended on Dublin Airport.

Clearly, in a time of crisis like this, there’s no place like home.
