GEARÓID Cronin, from Portmarnock, was one of five students at Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin) awarded an inaugural Jones Engineering scholarship.

Jim Curley, chief executive of Jones Engineering Group, presented the scholarships to three Engineering students and two students from the University’s Conservatoire of Music and Drama.

Mr Curley said: “At Jones Engineering, we firmly believe in ‘STEAM’, the integration of science, engineering and the arts to generate new ideas and deliver innovative solutions. 

“We are delighted to present this inaugural scholarship to Gearóid and we wish him every success in his future career.”

Gearóid, who attended Portmarnock Community College, is a final year student at TU Dublin where he studies Product Design.
