New football initiative at Baldoyle Utd
Dublin People 07 May 2018
BALDOYLE United FC will be celebrating 50 years in existence next year. The club continues to grow with membership rapidly increasing among its teams and coaches.

The club caters for boys and girls from age five up to adults. The junior academy for boys and girls runs every Saturday at 10am. Drop into the club’s astro behind the Brookstone Road clubhouse. It’s only €3 per session.
The former FAI Community Club of the Year will also be hosting its own Summer Camp from July 23-27 and also hosts the FAI Summer Soccer Camp. The Mini Leagues, which are open to everyone, will be held every evening from July 2-8.
Baldoyle United FC recently hosted the FAI launch of its experimental ‘Glow Football’.
Minister for Education and Skills Richard Bruton, Sean Haughey TD (FF), Cllr Cian O’Callaghan (SD) and Cllr Daire Ni Laoi (SF) were on hand to hear Mayor of Fingal Cllr Mary McCamley officially open the night.
The Baldoyle girls, and guests Portmarnock FC, donned neon bibs and face paint for the FAI’s trial of the new fun game.
Played in the dark using ultraviolet lights and dance music, the game is going down a storm with the youngsters.
Baldoyle United chairman Dermot Penrose said the new concept is as much a social occasion as a game of football.
“We found that girls of all abilities have enjoyed the experience and want to get more involved in football,” said Mr Penrose.
“The boys in the club are getting jealous wondering when it will be their turn!”
Sharon Boyle of the FAI and Fingal County Council organised the games over the last few weeks and the FAI will be promoting the game in the coming months in a bid to bring it to a wider female audience.
The innovative experience forms just part of Baldoyle United’s girls’ football programme which is led by Girls’ Head Coach, Justin Reilly.
Girls who wish to get involved or play with Baldoyle United should text Justin at 086-8146112 or visit www.BaldoyleUnited.com
