Browne is Fingal bound

IRREPRESSIBLE: Vincent Browne is bringing ‘The People’s Debate’ to Malahide next week.

AS GENERAL election fever intensifies, voters in one Northside constituency will next week get a chance to put their candidates’ credentials under the microscope.

But they’ll have to queue up behind irrepressible broadcaster Vincent Browne who is taking his programme, ‘The People’s Debate’, to Malahide.

On Monday, January 11, at the Grand Hotel, candidates in the newly formed Dublin Fingal constituency will face some hard questions from Vincent – who has enjoyed big success with his ‘Tonight with Vincent Browne’ show – as well as from members of the audience. The programme will air on TV3 two nights later, January 13.

‘The People’s Debate’ is in the middle of travelling to all 40 new constituencies ahead of the next general election which must take place no later than April 8.

‘The People’s Debate’ gives people the opportunity to debate issues with their sitting TDs and the candidates who are vying for a seat in the 32nd Dail.

So far, Vincent Browne has visited over 30 constituencies calling TDs to account in his inimitable style, and querying them on what they are promising their constituents ahead of the general election.

Local people in Fingal will get to air their concerns and views and hold their local politicians to account on a number of important issues.

Some of the issues that might crop up on the programme include the water charges; closures and cutbacks at local Garda stations; transport, including the much talked about Metro North; housing issues, such as homes affected by pyrite; and sewage problems at Rush Beach.
