Extra flights needed as exodus of rugby fans to Wales begins

Rugby fans get in the mood at Dublin Airport

A TOTAL of 80 extra flights carrying almost 11,000 supporters to Cardiff will depart Dublin Airport from today in advance of Ireland’s last Rugby World Cup pool match.

“Even though Ireland is already through to the quarter final stage, excitement is mounting for the French game and a large number of fans are travelling from Dublin Airport over the next few days,” said Dublin Airport spokeswoman Siobhán O’Donnell.

“Airlines are reporting high load factors on all routes into the UK and in particular to Cardiff and to airports close by.”

Fans travelling to the game can pick up a selection of Irish Rugby branded clothing, including men’s and ladies leisure wear as well as gifts and souvenirs in Ireland’s official Rugby World Cup store in Terminal 1.

The match with be shown on TV screens in both terminals.
