Volkswagen Ireland and SSE Airtricity have announced that Ann O’Neill, from Sandymount, is the winner of a brand new Volkswagen eGolf following a promotion to reward new SSE Airtricity electricity and gas customers.

The competition, which was open to anyone who switched to SSE Airtricity during October 2014 and February 2015, went into a draw to win a brand new Volkswagen eGolf.

Volkswagen Ireland approached SSE Airtricity to partner with them as part of its national campaign to promote the Volkswagen eGolf.

The competition was promoted through a number of channels including SSE Airtricity’s door to door sales teams, sales brochures, high profile events such as the Ideal Homes Expo and SSE Airtricity Dublin marathon expo, as well as SSE Airtricity website and social media channels.

Ms O’Neill claimed the top prize and was awarded a brand new Volkswagen eGolf with an electricity credit to the value of

?¬250 in order to charge her new car. The runners up did not leave empty handed with each finalist receiving a year’s free electricity.

Yvonne Burke, SSE Airtricity’s Head of Domestic Energy, stated:

“It was a hugely successful and exciting competition, with a fantastic top prize. As a greener and cleaner energy supplier, we’re proud to award Anne with a brand new, 100 per cent emission-free Volkswagen eGolf. On top of that, our 19 runners-up will receive a year’s free electricity from SSE Airtricity. As a company, we aim to make a positive difference to the lives of our customers, and teaming up with Volkswagen for this competition gave us the power to do just that.

Based on the multi-award-winning Golf hatchback, the e-Golf offers the same virtues of practicality, refinement and advanced technology, but with a purely electric drivetrain and no tailpipe emissions.

The e-Golf can be charged from a household three-pin socket using the cable provided. With a standard 230-Volt, 2.3 kW supply, this recharges the battery in 13 hours. An optional wallbox for home use provides 3.6 kW supply and can recharge a flat battery in eight hours.

Paul O’Sullivan, head of marketing, Volkswagen Ireland, added:

“We were delighted to partner with SSE Airtricity for this customer promotion. We recognised a great opportunity to work with Airtricity in order to build awareness among their customers about the new Volkswagen eGolf. We want to extend our congratulations to Ann on her well-deserved win and wish her many years of clean-driving ahead.
