Radisson Hotel leads the charge

THE Radisson Blu St Helen’s Hotel has unveiled the newly available electric car charging facility in the hotel grounds.

As part of the Green Hotel Drive, an initiative from ESB ecars in association with Fáilte Ireland to install 100 charge points at tourist destinations, there has been two charge points installed at the Radisson in Stillorgan.

These charge points allow hotel guests to charge up their electric cars during their stay at the hotel and are free of charge until August 2013.

Neil Lane, General Manager, said:

“It is a great opportunity to offer this facility and keep up to date as the hotel continues to keep ahead of its

‘Radisson Blu goes Green’ campaigns throughout the year.

To celebrate the new service at the hotel, Radisson Blu St Helen’s Hotel is offering ecar drivers a 10 per cent discount on all food menus in its Orangerie Bar and Talavera Restaurant while they charge their electric car at the hotel’s charging facilities.

Following the installation of the charge points, Radisson Blue provided an ideal location for ESB ecars to host the announcement of the 21 ecar ambassadors who are taking part in the Great Electric Drive electric car trial during the next 12 months.

The 21 ecar ambassadors, who were selected from more than 12,000 applicants, will drive an electric car for up to a year and have a charge point installed at their home or workplace. They will also have access to the network of charge points which are being installed by ESB ecars.

ESB ecars, a business unit within ESB Innovation, is responsible for the roll-out of a nationwide charging infrastructure, as well as the supporting IT and Communications platforms. To date, the total number of charge points installed is 860 charge points which includes home/workplace, public and fast charge point types.
