Patients across Dublin can now access their health information at the tap of a button, thanks to the launch of a brand new HSE Health App.

The app, officially unveiled by Minister Emer Higgins alongside Minister Jennifer Carroll MacNeill and HSE Chief Executive Bernard Gloster, promises to revolutionise how people interact with their personal health data and the Irish health service.

“This app is now available for download on Google Play and the App Store. If you have a verified MyGov account, you’ll be able to get specific and personal health information right at your fingertips,” said Minister Higgins.

In its initial phase, the app is especially useful for women going through maternity care, offering appointment access and key health resources. But there’s much more on the way.

“It’s just the beginning,” Minister Higgins continued. “As Minister with responsibility for eGovernment and Digitalisation, I’ll be working with the HSE and the Department of Health to enhance this app and roll it out in a way that benefits everyone.

“Minister Carroll MacNeill and I are committed to expanding its capabilities to give people better access, control, and convenience in managing their health. By embracing technology, we’re making healthcare more accessible for everyone.”

So what exactly does the HSE Health App offer? Here’s a quick look at its key features:

  • Digital versions of Medical, GP, Drug Payment Scheme, and European Health Insurance Cards
  • Vaccination records, including COVID-19 and flu
  • Details of reimbursed medications and a secure place to store personal medication lists
  • Information on HSE services, including Emergency Departments and Injury Units
  • Health & Wellbeing resources with easy access to HSE health guides
  • Maternity service appointment access for expectant mothers

And this is just the start. The HSE promises ongoing updates throughout 2025, including access to public hospital and screening appointments for public patients and new self-care tools for quitting smoking and managing chronic conditions.

The app is free to download from the HSE website, Google Play, and the App Store by searching “HSE Health.” Available in both Irish and English, it also offers step-by-step guidance for easy setup.
