ORGANISERS of this year’s EnviroCom Awards have called on businesses and communities across the Southside to

“keep environmental protection on the radar

?.

The cathaoirleach of Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council, Cllr Marie Baker, Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Chamber President, Dr Josephine Browne and Airfield CEO Grainne

Kelliher officially launched the 2015 EnviroCom Awards last week.

The awards, which are free to enter, are open to any business irrespective of size or sector, agency or non-profit organisation operating in the county.

The awards have been rewarding excellence in environmental management since 2007, and are organised by the chamber with support from Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council.

This year’s awards were officially launched at Airfield, which won an EnviroCom Award in 2014 for a range of initiatives across its farm and buildings to deliver a world class low-carbon educational space for all age groups.

The development of the wild pond and the restoration of centuries-old hedgerows play a particularly valuable role in the protection of local biodiversity.

Speaking at the launch, Grainne Kelliher, CEO at Airfield, said:

“Winning an EnviroCom Award has brought added profile to Airfield and validated the work and effort that our staff and builders put into making Airfield a top example of environmental sustainability.

Margaret Coles, Green Business Officer at Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council, who sits on the judging panel, added:

“When selecting winners for the EnviroCom Awards, entries are assessed in terms of their innovation, environmental, social and economic benefits to their communities.

There are no entry fees for the EnviroCom Awards and applications must be received by Friday, June 26.
