Taoiseach urged to meet Stardust Victims’ Committee

DUBLIN Bay North TD Tommy Broughan has reiterated his call for Taoiseach Enda Kenny to meet members of the Stardust Victims’ Committee amid claims it has

“new evidence

? about the 1981 fire tragedy.

On the 33rd anniversary of the fire which claimed 48 young lives, Deputy Broughan called for the

“new evidence

? to be examined by an independent commission of investigation.

For many years, Deputy Broughan has supported the Stardust families in their campaign for justice on behalf of the 48 people who died and the hundreds who were injured in the tragedy. He raised the matter with the Taoiseach and the Tánaiste in Dáil ireann last week.

“I would strongly urge the Taoiseach to reconsider his position so that he would urgently meet the families and allow them the opportunity to air their very serious concerns,

? said Deputy Broughan.

The Taoiseach’s office was unavailable for comment at the time of going to press.
