Our man scoops top award

Dublin People managing editor, Tony McCullagh, was voted Ireland’s Ski Journalist of the Year for 2013 at the recent Travel Extra Travel Journalist of the Year Awards.

Tony, who has been with Dublin People for more than two decades as reporter, editor and now managing editor, was presented with his award at a glittering ceremony at Thomas Prior House, Ballsbridge on January 25.

There were a total of 12 awards presented at the event, which was sponsored by The Spanish Tourist Board. The Ski Journalist of the Year award was sponsored by Topflight and Gastein in Austria.

The awards ceremony coincided with the 24th annual Holiday World Show, which was officially opened by Lord Mayor of Dublin Naoise � Muirí.

Over 50,000 visitors attended this year’s show, an increase of 12 per cent on 2012.

“I can immediately sense the excitement that runs through the Holiday World Show as the new, the familiar and the exotic locations are unveiled, along with the terrific special offers that visitors can avail of.
