OVER 400 service users at St Michael’s House enjoyed free bowling, prizes and games at a Christmas party held in Leisureplex.

St Michael’s House, which provides community-based services for people with an intellectual disability and their families, also announced that Leisureplex, a long-standing supporter, raised e19,500 for the organisation.

Sean Kennedy, Business Development Manager at Leisureplex, said the partnership grew from staff getting to know service users from St Michael’s House coming into the centre to play bowling and have lunch in the restaurant.

“One small fundraising event led to a long-term relationship,

? stated Mr Kennedy.

“The first campaign we ran for St Michael’s House was through our Children’s First Appeal, which raised funds for the purchase of a wheelchair bus.

“Since then we have helped to raise

?¬48,000 for St Michael’s House.

Barbara Wiseman, Head of Fundraising at St Michael’s House, said Leisureplex is a very important part of its community recreational activities.

“Bowling is a very popular activity for our service users, and some of them have represented Ireland in the Special Olympics World Games,

? she stated.

St Michael’s House would like to thank Leisureplex staff and customers in Coolock, Blanchardstown, Tallaght and Stillorgan for their kind donations and their support over the last decade.
