Residents make Marewood Court a Great Place to Live
Dublin People 06 Oct 2012
RESIDENTS of Marewood Court, Sillogue Road, Ballymun, have been awarded first prize in the Clúid Housing Association Great Places to Live contest for their constant effort and enthusiasm to improve their apartment complex.
The residents received an award of e350 at a special ceremony organised by the housing association last month. Clúid’s Regional Director in Ballymun, Kath Cottier, said the Ballymun residents beat off a lot of stiff competition for the top prize.
“What made Marewood Court stand out from other candidates is the enthusiasm and hard work by the residents to create this wonderful oasis for all the residents in Marewood Court and beyond,
? she added.
“The residents were not bound by the borders of the estate or just the areas that would benefit residents directly.
“The judges were also particularly impressed with the attention to detail. There are wonderful surprises around every corner including a butterfly garden, a wildflower meadow, the water fountain and a vast amount of edible planting.

Marewood Court is a sheltered housing complex. Sheltered housing is purpose built accommodation for older people who want to live independently in an environment that is secure.
Clúid is one of the largest providers of sheltered housing in the country, providing over 480 sheltered housing properties.
The purpose of Clúid’s Great Places to Live competition is to encourage and promote tenant participation within communities, for residents enjoyment and benefit.
“We think it’s important to celebrate the achievements of the estates that really make the effort,
? said Kath.
“I am sure that the story of Marewood Court will inspire other tenants around the country to get more involved in their local community.
“We hope that more apartment complexes and estates will put themselves up for next year’s awards.
