Residents step up sewage plant campaign

STEADFAST: Members of Lusk Waste Watch show their opposition to the council’s plans to locate a massive sewage treatment plant in north county Dublin.

LUSK residents have unveiled a trailer featuring a visual reminder of Fingal County Council’s plans to construct a major sewage plant in the county.

Speaking at the unveiling, local resident Gary Browne said: “This plan is a total nonsense. It makes no economic sense and is completely unjustified.

Another local, Ernie Donnelly, said: “The idea of building a massive pipe to pump sewage from as far away as Wicklow, Meath and Kildare is insane.

“With no money to invest in schools and hospitals, how can such a waste of money be justified?”

It’s expected that a shortlist of site locations for the plant will be revealed in the coming months.
