Padraig Conlon 05 Nov 2026
People of all ages from across Dublin and Wicklow are being encouraged to discover the benefits of inclusive sport and physical activity at the SportAbility Day 2026, taking place on November 28th from 1pm – 4pm at Sport Ireland’s National Indoor Arena in Blanchardstown.
Organised through a collaborative effort involving sports partnerships from Fingal County Council, Dublin City Council, South Dublin County Council, Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council and Wicklow County Council as well as Local Sports Partnerships and the Active Cities Dublin Campaign, the event will showcase a wide range of accessible sporting and recreational opportunities for people with disabilities of all ages and abilities.
David Storey, Director of Environment, Climate Action, Active Travel & Sport at Fingal County Council said: “SportAbility Day breaks down barriers and opens doors for people of all abilities to experience the enjoyment, health and connection that come from being active.
“By bringing together participants, clubs and organisations, we are creating a more inclusive community where everyone feels welcome and supported to take part.
“Events like this demonstrate our commitment to ensuring sport and physical activity are truly accessible to all across Fingal.”
The event will provide participants, families, carers, schools and community groups with the opportunity to try a variety of sports and activities in a welcoming and supportive environment.
Activities will include adapted and inclusive sports, interactive demonstrations, taster sessions and information stands from organisations supporting active participation across Dublin and Wicklow.
SportAbility Day aims to break down barriers to participation and highlight the many opportunities available for people with disabilities to become involved in sport and physical activity in their local communities.
The event also provides an opportunity for sports clubs, community groups and service providers to connect with potential participants and demonstrate how inclusive sport can support physical health, wellbeing, confidence and social connection.
Visitors will be able to meet representatives from disability organisations, sports clubs and community programmes while learning about pathways to ongoing participation after the event.
