End of an era as printing firm closes
Dublin People 03 Mar 2012
THERE was bad news on the employment front in Coolock
last week following the closure of a printing firm with the loss of 60 jobs,
Wood Printcraft Ltd, which dates back to 1837, was
placed under examinership in March 2010, but had managed to improve their
situation slightly since then.
However, workers were told last Monday afternoon
(February 27) that the company had been placed into receivership and that it
would close immediately. At its peak, Wood Printcraft Ltd employed over 300
people.
Dublin North East TD Terence Flanagan (FG) said he was
very disappointed to hear about the closure.
“The news announced will affect all 60 employees and
their families and I am sad to see the business go,
? stated Deputy
Flanagan.
“Wood Printcraft Ltd is renowned for their
reliability and their consistent high-quality output.
“I was aware that the company had been placed into
receivership in 2010, but I knew that the management were doing all that they
could to turn things around. Sadly, it could not survive in the current
financial climate.”
Deputy Flanagan added:
“The company successfully
operated printing in a number of different industries including healthcare,
major banks and telecommunications both nationally and internationally.
