Northside bouncers up to scratch
Dublin People 22 Oct 2011
THE
vast majority of bouncers and door staff operating throughout Dublin 15 are
correctly registered and legally compliant, it was revealed last week.
A
series of inspections of pubs and clubs were carried out earlier this month in
areas including Castleknock, Tyrrelstown, Blanchardstown and Clonsilla by
gardaà and officials from the Private Security Authority (PSA).
The
inspectors found that 100 per cent of contractors providing door supervision at
pubs and nightclubs were licensed by the PSA, and that they were also wearing
their clearly visible identity badges as legally required.
The
figures were slightly less for individuals working as bouncers or security
staff as 97 per cent of them possessed the necessary licence.
Geraldine
Larkin, chief executive of the Private Security Authority, said the compliance
figures were welcome and consistent with previous inspections in the area of
Dublin 15.
“However,
we will be following up on those found to be non-compliant with the licensing
requirement,
? she warned.
The
Private Security Authority is the statutory body in charge of licensing and
regulation private security in Ireland, under direction from the Department of
Justice.
