Dublin People 14 Aug 2011

THE cathaoirleach of Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council, Cllr John Bailey, has issued a rallying call to residents and business owners in the town to work together to build a better future.

“I have listened to enough of the same old complaints about Dun Laoghaire,

? Cllr Bailey stated.

“No county council can plausibly claim it has never made a mistake, but Dun Laoghaire Rathdown has committed itself to making this a better place to live, visit and do business in.

“There is immense positive action happening in our area at the moment,

? he argued.

“New initiatives such as the branding project, the dunlaoghaire.ie website, the pop-up shop, the Friday and Sunday open air markets and a summer of festivals.

“In addition, the council has embarked on a renovation of Marine Road and the covering of the railway to provide larger public spaces and to link the town to the harbour and the sea,

? he added. Outlining the council’s plan for a major conference in the autumn on the theme

‘Rebranding Dun Laoghaire’, Cllr Bailey concluded:

“We in Dun Laoghaire need to look forward and work together to build a better future instead of continually running this great town down.
